Story
Dear Friend,
I have decided to compete in my first marathon to raise funds for a charity I truly believe in.....
I was born in a small country town called Matamata in the Waikato as an only child to a mother who suffered from Muscular Dystrophy and whom spent many years of her life in a wheelchair. After hearing from my friend Deb Haworth about the Catwalk Trust and then meeting Dave Pretorius, I was inspired to head straight to the CatWalk website to learn about what they do and the research they have embarked upon and the results they are achieving. INSPIRATION RIGHT THERE!!!!!
I continued reading on the CatWalk Trust website about the people living in wheelchairs, and the challenges they and their families have to overcome and deal with, and recalled how similar it was to my experiences as a child growing up. It really struck a chord with me and I felt an overwhelming desire to support. So I’ve joined the team heading to New York to walk the Marathon on November 5.
My mother would be so proud of me as I am also the beneficiary of research, which has enabled me to have 4 children and as a result can also contribute to the next generation.
The training has begun!!!!!!!
